Claire chats with QinetiQ’s Edward Timpson about robots in the military, unmanned vehicles, and cybersecurity.
Ed Timpson joined QinetiQ in 2020 after 11 years of service in the Royal Navy as a Weapons Engineering Officer (Submarine) across a number of ranks. Joining QinetiQ Target Systems as a Project Engineer and also managing the Hardware team, he successfully developed new capabilities for the Banshee UAS family. He then moved to future systems within QinetiQ as a Principal Systems Engineer specializing in complex trials and experiments of unmanned vehicles. He now heads Robotics and Autonomous Systems proficiency in QinetiQ UK.
