Robot Talk Episode 49 – Nick Hawes

Claire chats with Nick Hawes of the University of Oxford about robotic decision-making, long-term autonomy and artificial intelligence.

Nick Hawes is Professor of AI and Robotics at the University of Oxford, where he chairs the Oxford Robotics Institute (ORI). Within ORI, he leads the Goal-Oriented Autonomous Long-Lived Systems (GOALS) group which researches decision-making for autonomous systems under uncertainty, including robots and human-robot teams. Recent highlights include the deployment of autonomous mission planning stacks on quadrupeds at active nuclear sites, and on autonomous underwater vehicles that take data from a network of sensors.
