Most likely you have, at some point, searched for free stuff online, including software, movies, TV shows, or live streaming of sports games. But the reality is that this “free” search can end up costing a lot, especially if it involves the promise of easily downloading a free version of what is actually a commercial product or service. The same goes for links you may receive in messages from “friends” on social media sites and that also promise “free lunch”.
Here’s what to do instead of visiting such sketchy websites and how you can make sure you’re downloading the real thing and avoid any unpleasant surprises.
