
UK Government To Provide £15 Million ($18.5 Million USD) In Small Business Research Initiative Grant for Quantum Technologies
Award competitions are part of the UK Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) programs to develop new technologies and processes. The aim of the competition is to explore the benefits of using quantum technology in various areas of interest of the UK Government and accelerate the adoption of quantum solutions by the public sector for the benefit of the public. The competition is divided into two stages. Phase 1, which will last 3 months, will award up to £120,000 ($148K USD), including VAT and has a total budget of £2 million ($2.4M USD) for all selected projects. After Phase 1, the UK government will assess the results and invite some of them to move on to Phase 2. Phase 2 will last up to 15 months and will fund each project in an amount of between £1 million and £2.5 million ($1.2) . M to $3M USD), including VAT. The combined total budget for all projects in Phase 2 is £13 million ($16 million USD). Applications to participate in the program will be accepted on 29 May 2023 and the application period will close on 27 June 2023 at 11:00 UK time.
