China Upgrades Zuchongzhi-2 Quantum Computer from 66 to 176 Qubits

We reported in September 2021 that a team from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) and other organizations had developed a 66 qubit superconductor-based processor and used it to replicate and surpass Google’s 2019 Quantum Supremacy experiment. They now report that they have upgraded the machine adding additional control interfaces to support 176 qubits and the machine will be online for general use in late May. Additional technical details such as coherence time, qubit fidelity, etc. Not yet available. A news report from the Xinhua News Agency is available Here.
