D-Wave Quantum Inc. has announced it will partner with Interpublic Group (IPG), one of the world’s largest advertising and marketing companies with 2022 revenue of $10.9 billion, to use D-Wave quantum technology to optimize marketing campaigns. There is a huge amount of data and parameters associated with an advertising campaign including the number of places an ad can be placed, cost to place an ad, audience demographics, response rate etc. And companies like Interpublic are constantly working to analyze data to deliver the best results for their clients. They will use D-Wave’s hybrid classical/quantum solution and D-Wave’s Leap cloud service along with their own data to find the right ad mix. IPQ recently started a pilot program to find optimization solutions for one of their top 20 clients in a retail environment. The D-Wave engine has been used before in other ad optimization applications. In the past, a Japanese company called Recruit Communications used a D-Wave quantum annealer to optimize how advertisers’ budgets were allocated for display ads.
