Could your Android phone be home to a remote access tool (RAT) stealing WhatsApp backups? This week, ESET researchers revealed how the latest version of the Android spyware GravityRAT was spread as a free messaging app called BingeChat and Chatico and was used to extract victims’ WhatsApp backups, among other malicious acts. The threat actor behind GravityRAT is still unknown, although ESET researchers are tracking the group internally as SpaceCobra.
